Christmas Eve is Near

Christmas Eve comes in about an hour, here in Central Time, and Holiday Wishes go out to all of you. We'll go wandering in search of relatives with extra food! All of the restaurants we had picked out are closing for the day..........sigh.

Not much to report on wandering, did get the Bernina sewing machine out to do some leather sewing and realized I had no blue jeans needle (big hint.............it works); so have to wander down to Wal Mart with the Christmas Eve traffic tomorrow and buy one.

Couldn't resist, but here is my oldest son, who flew in to visit for awhile and then went home and back to work.

I retract that its just soo neat here...........I woke up this morning, or was it afternoon..........doesn't matter to a quilter, and the ground looked just like it did in Maine................Where the heck are we.........really?

I thought we moved South of that great Mason Dixon Line.............hmmm

So I wandered over to the pond (from inside of course, I'm not going outside with quilting threads hanging all over me!) So, I guess it is pretty to look at.............but WHEN is Spring coming.

Ok, I have a foundation pieced Eagle picture that I need to finish or at least try to finish, today would be a good day to do it................catch ya later..........ticia (I'm in Arkansas they tell me)

8 December 2008

The sun is shining and the kitchen painting job is done! Am sure son is glad of that, as he was the chief painter. I had the hard decision, picking out the color. The new house had a prolificly busy wallpaper design, made worse by application directly to the drywall, so no removal. We learned a lots about Kiltz along the way and how expensive the cute blue tape is!

We have been having fun learning the city and visiting friends of our son, along with him. The tiny tree went up today with its single "White House Christmas" ornament (gee, wonder who is connected to the white house?) and red and white bows. Will put a picture in a future post.

We have a Christmas Dinner invitation, but the chore of Christmas Cards for all of those who don't know we have moved, still looms ahead of me, yet undone. Since the Address Book did not get packed with the first load, some will not know we have moved until next summer (grin)

The sewing machine table is set up now, so soon I can close the door and hide for awhile during football games and such. The dogs are getting used to the horses out back and not barking quite as much.

Catch ya all later

Happy December

Will have to call it a happy December; have our oldest son, the Lt. Col. from the USAF home for a week. Needless to say he and dad are busy with "guy things" such as running wires and finding out what makes things tick................hmm, I should take this time to go cut some quilting out, ah, alas, I remember now, my studio is "just there", its not framed in yet and is definitely colder up there than down here in front of the wood stove. Perhaps I will borrow part of the living room for awhile. After all, I could use the precut kits or the foundaton piecing or drag out my gold bag of "surprise scraps". Or I could just go read a book.

Am so glad that Part 1 of the journey south is over. A couple more and we will have everything all in one place. Finally.

Guess I will go quilt, so anyone wanting to do the same, join me.

Welcome, come in, sit down, grab some coffee or whatever and enjoy your visit.

I'm a prolific quilter, using the smallest possible pieces, and often by hand quilting, although certain friends are trying to win me over to machine quilting. I am also Native American and sometimes it shows in my quilts and sometimes it doesn't. I wander like a gypsy and often look for projects small enough to take with, although there is always room for new ones, inspired by stops along the way. I may get shot for this but here is a picture of Mischele and I taken last week when I dropped by on my way to my new residence. We are both RN's, so perhaps the multitasking ability helps with quilting? At any rate, it proves we like to stay busy and are very creative, usually not taking no for an answer. I attempted t move most of her stash into my truck, but she won as there wasn't room for any of it; thus giving me an excuse to visit again now that we are close enough to visit "via greyhound".

My dearest quilting friend is Mischele, she runs simpleshapes.blogspot.com and I can usually get away with blaiming my vice on her. Sometimes not. She has co-authored a book and one of my quilts (rather her quilt, I quilted it) is in there somewhere. As I am unpacking a portion of my house as we speak, I can't find the book to give you the specific page.

Mischele moves, 'Ticia moves, only I have moved twice now since she has moved. Her turn. Although I doubt it will happen soon. Dropping by there last week, I probably drooled over every book, quilt in progress and fabric stash cabinet in the studio but did come away with a bag of supposedly unusable scraps (ha.........yeah, gold to me
Oh yeah, this is my blog isn't it? I've been web-gathering again while typing. This may spin into several blogs later as I multi task big time. I spin, weave, knit, crochet, quilt, shire, bead, geneaogy and other numerous things.
I will scan and post some of my quilts later in posts down the road; the computer has managed to be unpacked and upgraded to high speed internet (try doing ancestry on dial up) and several trips more will be required as winter drove us out before we got everything down south of the Mason Dixon Line.
Now I have to claim both sides, my father's parents immigrating from Sweden and Norway and living North of the line, but my mother's side immigrating from Ireland and working their way South during the Revolutionary War and hiding out from the Native American Round Ups, having joined families with the Natives.
I presently am a Daughter of The American Revolution on my Hamrick side (not West Virginia Hamricks) and have proven my Cherokee and Creek lines but still working on the other tribes.
I have met many new and wonderful relatives in my genealogy quest.
Ok, I can see where several blogs are going to be necessary, but we will play this one by ear for awhile. I call it wanderfooting (can see Mischle's nose wrinkle) because I wander looking for gravestones and courthouses and relatives and yes, I have moved over 20 times since being old enough to drink.
Enjoy, leave me messages, questions, whatever!
